Maybe horses have always been part of your life. Maybe they were once, and somewhere between careers, families, responsibilities and simply being an adult, riding quietly slipped away. Or maybe you have spent years watching from the other side of the fence, wondering what it would feel like to finally become the rider you always wanted to be. At Folklore Farm, there is no “right” age to begin, no expiration date on coming back, and no expectation that you arrive already knowing where you belong.

Our adult riding program was created for beginners, returning riders and experienced equestrians who want something more than simply another place to take lessons. Folklore Farm offers a peaceful, professional environment where adults can learn at their own pace, develop confidence and continue advancing their riding without the pressure or atmosphere often associated with a traditional lesson barn. Whether you are learning to post the trot for the first time or refining skills you have spent years developing, your education is treated with the same attention and respect.

At the heart of the program are our horses. We believe a great lesson horse is far more than a horse that is simply safe enough to ride. Our horses are carefully selected, well schooled and educated, with the experience and temperament to help riders learn correctly and confidently. Because every horse and every rider is an individual, we place tremendous importance on creating the right horse-and-rider match. The horse beneath you is not simply part of the lesson—he is your partner and one of your greatest teachers.

Our teaching goes beyond learning the mechanics of walk, trot, canter or navigating an arena. We place a strong emphasis on rider biomechanics, balance, communication and understanding how the rider’s body influences the horse. As riders progress, they begin to understand not only what to do, but why it works—and how clearer, more balanced riding creates a more comfortable and confident horse.

Folklore Farm was intentionally created to offer adults a place where learning feels both purposeful and restorative. The atmosphere is peaceful and welcoming, with thoughtful instruction, well-cared-for horses and space to focus on the experience of riding. Whether you are working toward a specific goal or simply making time for something that matters to you, the farm offers an environment where you can learn, grow and enjoy being around horses again.
